Surrounding a courtyard defined by a swimming pool - a rare amenity for Capitol Hill - this private residence features an expansive kitchen/dining/living space, a central stair atrium, a primary suite, a playroom, and three children’s bedrooms.  Although situated in a dense neighborhood of townhouses within Capitol Hill’s Historic District, the design opens living spaces to the light and the outdoors: the first level enjoys direct access to the pool, while the upper floor provides vistas of treetops and sky.  Designed for an active family of six, the home unifies several buildings constructed in the 1890’s and the 1970’s into a unique and functional urban sanctuary.
